The Backyard Demonstration Garden is a 1440 square foot 'edible landscape' that includes a variety of low and moderate water plants - many California natives - in a water-wise design. Its diverse collection of nectar-rich plants attracts native pollinators like the three-banded bumble bee (Bombus melanopygus), butterflies and hummingbirds. In addition, our dwarf persimmon tree, an espaliered fruit tree fence and a variety of organically grown vegetables in hand-built raised beds supply much needed food for Sonoma County residents who are food insecure.
