The Backyard Demonstration Garden brings together a variety of low and moderate water plants - many California natives - in a water-wise design. Our diverse collection of native and pollinator-friendly plants attract native bees (like the three-banded bumble bee, Bombus melanopygus), butterflies and hummingbirds. With a dwarf persimmon tree, a fruit tree fence, organically grown vegetables in two raised beds, medicinal and culinary herbs, the Demonstration Garden is
an edible landscape in about 1440 square feet, the size
of an urban backyard.
